June 07, 2016 One More Day

Just taking a moment to say I'm grateful for one more day.  My cousin (first once removed) mentioned how my grandma (her aunt) would say this each night when staying at their house.  Always be grateful for one more day, another chance to get it right, make a friend, say sorry, help someone or notice something you never noticed before.

3-30-2016 Forward Post

Every other post I've done on this blog has been about something for which I was grateful that had already happened.  But, this morning I'm about to go out on a limb and be grateful for something about to happen.  On any given morning where I'm not meeting someone for a run and I don't have a specific morning appointment where I have to get to work at a specific time rather than "at some reasonable time in the morning" I can have some trouble getting up and moving.  Eventually I do, although some time goes by wasted, more time than should, I step out the front door to find the morning waiting for me and it's sometimes cooler or more pleasant than it was inside or there are birds chirping or I'm reminded about something and suddenly the whole morning feels better, different, no longer a chore to get ready and moving but something to be grateful for, just by stepping out the front door and moving forward.
And it happens again and again, and for that I am extremely grateful!!

12-17-2015

I am grateful for being grateful and all the things I have to be grateful about, to take the time to remember how lucky I am and the gifts I've been given of the people around me.  I remember these things.

9-11-15 Driving My Car with My Dog

Today is a day of sad remembrance.  But, if you want to look to a friend who doesn't need to know of the world's troubles, there's always your dog.  And if you need to go somewhere that no one else wants to go (like the pet store for more dog food), your dog will always want to go.  You don't have to talk to him but he won't feel ignored, just happy to be with you and going someplace, even if not very far.
So, today I'm grateful for driving my car with my dog.

9-10-2015 Pre-race pasta party

I've been to a lot of races and skipped many of the pre-race pasta parties.  But this year I've been to them in Boston, Stroudsburg, and Pocatello.  They are nothing fancy but whether going alone or with friends there's some sort of magic and bonding to sit with the others runners and their families about to embark on another marathon journey the next day.  The one I went to this past weekend I was by myself.  I walked in not knowing anyone and walked out knowing several people's stories and felt like I ran into old friends at the end of the race.  Well worth it in every way!
I'm grateful for these pre-race pasta parties!

9-9-2015 Changes of Scenery

I'm grateful and a bit in awe of what a dramatic change of scenery can do.  This past weekend I went to Pocatello, ID.  Flew into Salt Lake City airport and drove about two hours north.  So, I saw the mountains in Utah and the rolling countryside in Idaho.  I saw the wide open spaces, and how everything looked just a bit different from Florida besides it being much flatter and greener here.
It reminds you there's a big world out there and then when it's time to go back home, how good it is to be back while keeping the memories.
So, I am grateful for all that.

10-14-2014 October Feeling Weather

October is a good month.  It's early into fall, and here in Florida it's the first month where there are fewer oppressively hot days.  There's also a feel in the air.  Andy mentioned October weather so I know I'm not making it up!

It's also great running weather!

I'm definitely grateful for this October feeling weather.
